Finding uncle Anthony in middlemore hospital

‘How hard can it be to locate Uncle Anthony?’ I thought in frustration! I hate walking, but walking with no direction - up and down stairs, in and out of rooms for what seemed like ages, was making me angry.

Dad was frustrated asking questions. People kept telling him the wrong directions making us confused ‘we don’t know where to go’ I was thinking in my mind
“were lost” I was telling dad.

Chloe was tired and she always wanted to sit down because her legs and arms were getting sore. All she wanted to do was hop on the seat and relax.

Nan & Mum weren’t phased and all they wanted to do was just to see uncle Anthony and spend time with him.

This wasn’t the first time I’ve been to the hospital but I got to say it’s bigger than kawakawa hospital.Way bigger, there was even a new building I’ve never seen that before and then I looked up and seen all the patients rooms ‘wow’ I thought in my mind.

As we found the room that uncle Anthony was in I looked straight at him and felt like crying. I walked over to him a gave him a huge hug and kissed him on the foreheadI didn’t want to cry in front of him. So I kept it to myself.

After we had a couple of hours with Uncle we decided we needed to get back to kaikohe
before dark time so we said our goodbyes and our crys.

Summary:
I was glad I found my Uncle.  All that walking is nothing compared to what he’s going through.

Am I working towards my reading goals?

My teacher is analysing my reading fluency today and this is what she said.

"I definitely think you are working towards your reading goals and it sounds to me that you are practising at home. Well done Myra-Lee.
I can see that you are using the F.U.N = Fluency, Understanding and Native Image. You sound really confident as you are reading to 'all' punctuation marks.
I love the way you are looking towards the camera. To me it tells me you to engage your audience. He tino rawe!
Ka nui te pai to korero pukapuka."

A Brief Analysis of my Reading.

Reading Analysis

WALT: Make a snap shot of my reading ability using National standards learning progressions.

This week we videoed ourselves reading an extract from bridge to Terabithia. we had to watch ourselves and notice what challenges we faced when reading at 13-14 years. We had to choose 4 challenges that stood out the most. Then we had to think how we were going to make changes to our reading,by setting goals.

The Challenges I Face In Reading Are:
  • Reading like a Robot.
  • Not speaking clearly when I read out aloud.
  • Having difficulty when decoding harder vocabulary.
  • Not looking at the camera/audience.

The Goals that I will Focus On In Term 4,So To Help Me Become A
better Reading Reader Are:
  • Look at the camera/audience.
  • Read clearly and out aloud.
  • Pronounce all the words properly.
  • Practice reading at home.
